Smugly is for anyone looking to get out and meet new friends in their local area. It's for people who want to try a new hobby or share an existing passion with others. It's for people to get some sociable exercise without spending a fortune or just get out and have fun with other locals.
It's about getting out, being brave and doing something exciting with your free time.
These are just a few of the reasons why Smugly is the best London site to meet people and share fun activities:
As a Smugly member you can search for and join as many local groups as you like. Be a knitting rugby player or a wine loving photographer. Create a profile and easily communicate with other members via the message board or send them an email via Smugly. Sign up to group events and your personal calendar will automatically combine them together on your profile page, fancy! After events you can even upload photos and share them with your new chums. Included in your subscription is the chance to set up and run your own Smugly groups. Whether this be a splinter group of an existing local club or something completely original, setting up a new Smugly group is easy and exciting.
Smugly groups are growing across London and cater for a range of interests. The map search is easy to use, allowing you to browse groups in your local area to get a clear picture of what's going on around you. If you don't mind travelling in London, type in the activity you fancy into the search box and see where there's one up and running....better yet, start you own group in your local area! As Smugly grows so will our map; one day you'll be able to find Smugly groups across the whole of the UK.
Smugly groups will meet on a regular basis, probably in the same location, at a similar time. The idea of Smugly groups is that they’re social gatherings of familiar faces and not large impersonal groups. The message board and the calendar allows you to see who is going to each meeting and chat to members between events.
Each group page and event has its very own message board that only members of that group can see. You can post messages for the whole group to read or can email specific members by clicking on their photo. Emails go through Smugly so your email address will only be visible if you reply to an email directly from your email account.

Group administrators may at times need to ask group members for funds to cover costs i.e. room hire/court fees, tickets to events etc. These can be collected by administrators at meetings. Smugly takes no responsibility for exchanging of monies and does not advise funds be transferred over the internet. Where groups are run by instructors i.e. a Yoga teacher, the same advice applies - any fees should be paid at meetings and Smugly does not take responsibility for services provided. See Terms of Use for further information relating to group events and fees.
When your group has been running for a while and you've made some great new friends, you may want to close your group to new members. That's absolutely fine! There's nothing wrong with keeping your group personal and Smugly recommends small gatherings of familiar faces. Your administrator can easily limit the number of members in your group by following the link Edit Group on the group’s homepage.
Firstly, you must always report any inappropriate behaviour to Smugly so we can take necessary action. Smugly has clearly defined Terms of Use and any members found to be misusing the site will be removed without hesitation. Administrators have the ability to remove members from their group by following the Edit Members link. An email will be sent to the member informing them they have been removed from the group but it is advised administrators write personally to the member, explaining their reasons. If you are happy with the numbers of members in your group you can easily set it as closed to future members.
If, for some reason, you find you are unable to continue in the role of group administrator, then you can easily pass the torch to another member. On your Smugly group page there is a link called Request removal/transfer of group. To make the process of transferral run smoothly, it’s really important to give your members the opportunity to take on the role of the administrator, before contacting Smugly. If you sadly have to close the group, we would welcome your feedback on your experiences in the role of Smugly Group Admin.
Why would you want to?! Assuming you have no other choice but to depart your new found friends, your subscription can easily be cancelled. Simply go to your profile page and remove yourself as a member. Your account will be suspended - just in case you miss us and want to come back! Don't forget to keep an eye out for Smugly UK...
